St.Abbs is a very good base for touring.
|
|
The fishing port of Eyemouth is only three
|
miles south, there is a very good 18 hole
|
golf course and swimming pool, The town
|
is famous for it’s Fishing Disaster, which is
|
well documented in the local Museum, it is
|
well worth a visit.
|
Berwick upon Tweed is nine miles further
|
South. The market town is full of history,
|
being fought over by the Scots and
|
English down through the centuries.
|
Down the coast are Bamburgh, Holy Island
|
and Seahouses. Anwick Castle with it’s
|
lovely gardens is only 35 miles away.
|
|
To the north lie Scotlands capital. Edinburgh
|
reknowned for it’s Castle and Princess Street
|
and of course it’s world famous Festival.
|
In East Lothian, Concorde has arrived at
|
East Fortune Air Museum. North Berwick and
|
Dunbar nestle on the coastline.
|
The beautiful borders countryside, with it’s
|
stately homes Floors Castle, Mellerstane,
|
and Manderston is an easy drive away.
|
The Borders is also home to a number of
|
challenging golf courses including Duns,
|
Coldstream, Kelso and Eyemouth. It is
|
a must for the ardent golfer.
